The trip from Jakarta starts off on the Friday evening from Kampung Rambutan station. We bought bus ticket for Rp. 90.000 with the destination Wonosobo using Sinar Jaya bus. The trip takes the whole night and we arrive at Mendolo station, Wonosobo, around 7 AM. Since there are several of us, we decide to charter a mini bus for Rp. 30.000 per person.
Mendolo Station
Our first stop is the Telogo Warno Dieng (Dieng Colorful Lake). The ticket is Rp. 7.000 for local and Rp. 150.000 for international tourist. Uhm. ok. Moving on…

The Lake. Beautiful reflecting mirror. The lake has a high concentration of sulphur, therefore the lake colours changes according to light and reflection. There are a couple of walk ways around the lake and some mystic places if one wants to explore.
Legend has it that Batu Tulis (The Writing Stone) can granted children to read and write if they pray upon the stone and statue.
Kawah Sikidang (Sikidang Crater)
Only 800 metres from the lake, we visit Sikidang Crater. The sulphur are very strong here and with the heat you can even boiled some eggs. They said the sulphur is good for your skin, might lessen eczema and other skin problems such as itchiness, fungi, ache and pimples.

After lunch, we pack some stuff including our camping gear and sleeping bags. We also hire some porters (Rp. 80.000 per porter) to carry the heavy packs. We start of from the base camp, Patak Banteng. The easy climb should take about 3-5 hours.
The terrain. People here are very helpful, while I’m resting, some climbers encourage each others and some times give a helping hand. Literally.

Almost sunset with the Wonosobo city view. I missed sunset when we reach the top. Oh well. After setting our tent and have dinner, we settled for the night. The night is pretty cold. Around 5 to 10 degree Celsius. At 4-5 AM we woke up and prepare for sunrise. But wait! Coffee anyone? The sun peaking from behind the mountains, creation a beautiful shades of yellow to purple.
The clearer sky at 2,599m. We can see Sindoro mountain, Sumbing mountain, Slamet mountain and Merapi mountain. After taking a lot of photos and selfies and wefies, we have breakfast and pack our belongings. We also separate our trash in another bag and bring them down from the mountain and later dispose in the city. Clean, green everyone!

After we return our camping gear, we had lunch. My brother and I decide to charter Ojek (Motorcycle).
It’s exciting since it only takes 30 minutes down the hills and off the path from base camp to the station at Wonosobo.
